I came across a youtube video, that was in need of some information. I hope I have helped at least someone to understand a little more of how things really are. However as it is, it is not for man to understand the will of God, but to those who honestly, openly, and with a sincere heart desire to know the truth, sometimes the Lord will help us to understand some of His mysteries.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
There are many things that people don't understand, and the Lord meant it to be that way. I am glad that so many people are concerned about racism; I myself have had my concerns about why blacks weren't allowed to hold the priesthood until the 1970's, however to say that a Mormon is a racist is about as far-fetched as you can get. Satan is the one who put it into the hearts of "white" man to hate "blacks". However the Lord allows some bad things to happen in this world for the purpose of gaining knowledge, gaining a closer relationship with Him, and ultimately to bring to pass the Will of God. If you look back into history during the time of slavery and when it was abolished, the transition was shall I say...difficult for many people. If you can imagine, it would take time for such a change to become settled with most. Some people were brought up to think certain ways, ie. Whites were superior to Blacks therefore they were slaves. I do not believe that such a great and wonderful God would create races of people to think that way, as we are all God's children. No, that was Satan who convinced man of that. However God does pass judgment and in this instance He did place a curse on some who were evil. Why? To humble them in hopes they would repent and come back to Him. When the time came that Blacks were allowed to hold the priesthood in the LDS church, the transition was smooth. People, including faithful Blacks, were happy that the time was at hand where they could hold the priesthood. For whatever reason, it was the Lords time for this change to come, and to trust in the Lord means He knows better than me in why He waited to let this be.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is perfect. The people in His church are imperfect. They struggle every day just as you or I struggle to make right choices. Yet, Mormon's are scrutinized more so than any other religious group because of the many “rules”(as some might say) they are supposed to follow. Therefore, when a Mormon makes a mistake or chooses the wrong path, that somehow makes it seem so much worse to some because not as much is expected out of some other religions. That's just how it goes.
In conclusion, I would just like to say that Africans are the fasted growing ethnicity in the Mormon church. If Blacks can find an answer from the Lord as to why things were the way they were many years ago, then I would hope that the Whites can also look forward finding answers and continue to grow closer to the Lord as well.
